The general stream is at Ballarat Health Services is designed for applicants who have not yet committed to or who are not yet eligible to apply for a career pathway in the other streams offered at Ballarat Health Services. This may include applicants who are eligible for provisional registration and are still pursuing their general registration. Applicants will be rotated through the following specialities to enable general registration General Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency and Relief.
Please note Applicants who already have thier general registration are encouraged to apply for one of the specialty streams at Ballarat Health including Surgical Stream, Medical Stream, GP OandG Stream or Critical Care Stream. This position is designed for applicants who have not yet committed to or who are not yet eligible to apply for a career pathway in the other streams offered at Ballarat Health Services.

Ballarat Health Services comprises of the Base Hospital 221 beds , Queen Elizabeth Centre sub acute care 70 beds and Psychiatric Services 67 beds . Ballarat Health Services is a major training site for the University of Melbourne and Deakin Rural Clinical Schools. Senior staff are strongly committed to teaching and the professional development of Interns, HMOs and Registrars.
