If you have an interest in providing anaesthesia as part of your rural or remote medical practice, then undertaking training in an anaesthetic post could assist you. Doctors undertaking anaesthetic training will take on the roles and responsibilities of a junior anaesthetic Registrar. The post provides experience and training requirements that enable the participant to become an accredited GP anaesthetist.

Ballarat is a Rural Base Hospital and Regional Trauma Centre servicing a population of approximately 200,000 people and a land area extending from the Western boundary of Melbourne to the South Australian border. It is the primary referral centre for its local region and the secondary referral centre for much of Western Victoria.
Anaesthetic training is provided across a broad range of specialties including obstetrics, ENT, orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, urology, opthalmology, endoscopy as well as acute and persistent pain management.
Ballarat Health Services is a major site for the University of Melbourne and Deakin Rural Clinical Schools. Senior staff are strongly committed to teaching and professional development of Interns, HMOs and Registrars.
